Business Support Programs

Business Support Programs (Entrepreneurship)

This program is designed to promote businesses and entrepreneurial activities to drive economic growth and reduce poverty. The program tends to address challenges facing individuals who want to start a business and those with existing businesses.

Entrepreneurship or Business has proven to play key roles towards development and reducing poverty. It has potential for self-employment, create employment opportunities and socio-economic benefits for the communities and nation. It should be acknowledged that small businesses are often created to put food on the table and have low growth potential. Many people and business owners face challenges in starting up a business or maintaining and expanding their businesses, such as: lack of access to finance and markets, poor business skills, low levels of education, and lack of suitable business mentors. Majority of small-scale entrepreneurs tend to be less educated and only few business owners had completed secondary school. Some people tend to lack the skills needed to successfully start up and manage a business. The Business Support Program promotes and supports businesses through:

  • Business skills or entrepreneurial skills training
  • Mentorship
  • Micro-finance or business loan
  • Networking
  • Marketing
  • Self-help group
  • Advisory services
  • And much more
